Ethernet & SDN Expo
This last week I traveled to Manhattan for the Ethernet & SDN Expo to keep up with the recent and forthcoming advances in the Ethernet area. Lots of news on those fronts.
Carrier Ethernet offerings are moving towards being more customer satisfying. For example, long installation periods for fiber service to buildings is being addressed. New thinking is that one shouldn't have to order a specified bandwidth, wait 60 to 90 days or more for installation and then be stuck with the ordered bandwidth. Dynamic bandwidth is already being offered by some carriers and will soon be available from many more. For more details and to see how these changes affect your options, contact me via Fast & Gigabit Ethernet Line Service Price Quotes.

Keeping up with the latest in Telecommunications and Cloud Services
At Persimmon Telecommunications, one of the ways we keep up with the latest and greatest offerings in Telecommunications and Cloud Services is by attending the annual Telarus Partner Summit. Telarus sponsored a hike at the end of the conference and here I am after climbing to the 9400 foot top of Bald mountain:

Thanks to all who helped Persimmon Telecommunications choose a New Logo
And the winner is:
Thanks to our customers, our partners and our friends who voted on the new logo for Persimmon Telecommunications and thus helped in our rebranding. Although there were a lot of votes for the other two options, clearly you as a group favored this logo.
We have begun placing this logo on our web sites and other material.

Why is the US not at the Forefront in Broadband Access, Speed and Pricing?
Adam Edwards, President of Telarus, has written a very insightful blog article pointing out that there is a significant variable that explains why some countries like Japan and Korea seem more advanced than the USA in broadband access, speed and pricing. The variable is population density and it has been overlooked by many in the mainstream media, e.g., David Carr of the New York Times in his article titled Telecom's Big Players Hold Back the Future.
See Adam's complete blog entry You Are My Density for a more complete analysis.

Want the best Bandwidth Solution - Use a RFP
A service that we began offering in 2012 is RFP writing. For complex network requirements, we will write a RFP for you which will assist you in obtaining an optimal network solution. In the RFP, we use proprietary carrots and sticks, an unique approach to give you satisfaction with the results. And, as long as the winning carrier is one of the carriers we represent, you can end up paying nothing for the cost of writing the RFP. It's truly a Win-Win opportunity. Since indirectly we represent hundreds of Telecom carriers, most likely you will choose one of those that we represent.
